Knights of Columbus Growth of the Knights of Columbus On Oct. 2, 1881, a small group of men met in the basement of St. Mary’s Church on Hillhouse Avenue in New Haven, Connecticut. Called together by their 29-year-old parish priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, these men formed a fraternal society that would one day become the world’s largest Catholic family fraternal service organization. They sought strength in solidarity, and security through unity of purpose and devotion to a holy cause: they vowed...

Defund Planned Parenthood

It is the public policy of the state of Ohio to prefer childbirth over abortion—Planned Parenthood’s business model and political agenda are the reverse. Over the span of 40 years, Planned Parenthood’s abortion services have grown to consume a bigger and bigger market share. In 2013, Planned Parenthood performed 327,653 abortions—about a quarter of the country’s abortions. Planned Parenthood charges upwards of $1,500 for a first trimester abortion. According to Guttmacher, Planned Parenthood’s research arm, the average abortion costs $470. 94 percent of Planned Parenthood’s pregnancy-related services are abortions. While Planned Parenthood’s abortions rose last year, their adoption referrals and prenatal services dropped. For every adoption referral, Planned Parenthood performed 174 abortions. Last year, Planned Parenthood raked in 528 million taxpayer dollars—41 percent of its revenue. In 2013, Planned Parenthood reported more than $127 million in excess revenue and more than $1.4 billion in net assets. The Planned Parenthood abortion industry grew from the eugenic ideas of founder Margaret Sanger. She documented her ruthless beliefs in pamphlets, journals and books in the early 20th century. Such ideas include: “The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” The eugenic ideas of the 20th century persist in today’s abortion practice where it capitalizes on minority communities, disproportionately taking the lives of African American babies and babies with disabilities. In 2013, 42 percent of abortions took place on African American women–even though they make up 12.5 percent of Ohio’s population. Make no mistake: Planned Parenthood is using your tax dollars as a shell game to fund abortion and advance their callous and inhuman ideals. Sign our petition to de-fund Planned Parenthood and ask a friend to do the same. We have more than enough reasons. With you for Life, Ohio Right to Life...

Our Pro-Life Heroes

Thomas Allen Trimner October 25, 1945 – December 11, 2012 Tom Trimner was our dear friend and will be greatly missed.  He was a protector and defender of the unborn.  He spent many of his days praying for the protection of unborn and an end to abortion.  He earnestly prayed in front of abortion clinics faithfully several times a year despite his medical conditions.  He enjoyed educating himself on pro- life issues and gladly would engage others in conversation to better inform them as well. Tom was born in Bellevue, Ohio in 1945.  He was a patriot of our great country and served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 thru 1966 with an Honorable Discharge.  He then worked as a corrections officer for the Ohio Department of Corrections until his retirement.  He was previously a certified Hostage Negotiator for O.D. R. C Tom was a proud member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Respect Life Committee and Marion Citizens for Life.  He was a volunteer for Big Brothers and Nashville Song Writer Association where he was a song writer, singer, ventriloquist and entertainer. Tom was devout in his Christian Catholic faith and loved serving the Lord in many ways.  We are grateful for the privilege to have served with Tom to give voice to those who do not have one.   Don & Martha Lieb We would like to recognize Don & Martha Lieb for their dedicated service for the Right to Life movement from the moment of conception till death. Don and Martha attended the first meeting that Fr. Kevin Lutz set up in Marion, Ohio for all denominations in 1983. They became dedicated volunteers to the newly formed Marion County Right to Life that worked thru Ohio Right to Life. Martha became Treasurer and held that position for many years. Don was President of the organization for a Term. They worked side by side with the other members in all the activities of the group. In later years, Marion St. Mary’s formed their own Respect Life group and Don & Martha also worked with that group as well as reamaining with Marion County Right to Life. They were active until their health had gotten worse and they moved to Cincinnati to be closer to their family. Martha passed away May 13, 2008 and Don passed away March 11, 2012. Marion County Right to Life disbanded because of low membership due to the older members either moving away or passing away. The group remaining joined The Marion Citizens for Life which is a very active organization in the...
