for Life History |
In January, 2006,
Life is From God Ministries called several local pastors
together for a “what’s ahead” meeting regarding the
pro-life movement in Marion. Out of that meeting,
Pastor Wil Beers offered to host a series of Visioneering
Weekends to help the pro-life movement get focused.
Those meetings were held at Dayspring Wesleyan Church
in the spring of 2006. |
 |
Resulting from those
Visoneering meetings, several individuals and churches
became involved in the pro-life movement. In addition,
specific goals and projects were set forth. “Marion
Citizens for Life” came into being. A Steering Committee
was formed comprising representatives from local churches
as well as local pro-life organizations, such as Bethel
Ministries. Pastor John Jones of the Grace Brethren
Church served as the spiritual shepherd of the group,
Bob Zeisler as chairman, and Gayle Oboy as secretary.
The Steering Committee meets monthly followed by a
prayer meeting and both are hosted at various community
churches. |
Some of the ways awareness
of pro-life issues has been accomplished is through
family, teen, and men’s events and a booth at the Marion
County Fair. Yearly reminders such as the Sanctity
of Life Service, the Cemetery of the Innocent, and
the Life Chain have been promoted as well. |
Marion Citizens for
Life is committed to building awareness of the preciousness
of life created in the image of God from conception
to natural death. |
| |
Marion Citizens for Life believe
God has created each life as precious and valuable
from conception to natural death. Members therefore
have a passion for all life and want to speak out to
defend it. |
|
The Bible says in Proverbs 31:8,9, "Speak
up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure
justice for those who are perishing. Yes, speak up
for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice." |
| |
Marion Citizens for Life's mission
is to come together as a group of faithful believers
from all denominations and make an impact on our local
community in raising the awareness of the sanctity
of all human life. |
